For Unique Worldbuilding
When Peter Jackson was filming The Lord of the Rings, he didn’t go to the local chain store where everyone shops to buy up mugs for The Prancing Pony or The Golden Hall. He hired local artisans and true masters of their craft to create unique mugs, goblets, and furniture so the environment felt like you were stepping into a very real, but very different world.
As a fantasy map maker, you have the same goal in creating a relic from the world you’re mapping. So, don’t skimp on details like choosing a font! You want something that is readable, but feels like a unique glimpse into the culture of the setting.
